1. What is SSREC? What should I expect?
The Southeast Student Renewable Energy Conference (SSREC) brings together youth and students who are working for a clean energy future in their communities. This conference provides them with the tools to organize within their individual campuses and communities, and build the skills they need to become leaders. You should expect to meet students who are working towards a clean energy future, sharpen your organizing skills, learn about the issues we face and the solutions to them, and have fun!

2. Where is SSREC?
The 2011 SSREC is going to be held at the University of North Carolina - Asheville, co-hosted by the Southern Energy Network and Active Students for a Healthy Environment (ASHE)!

3. What time does it start?
Check in and registration is from 2-9PM. Pre-conference movie screenings and the Alliance for Climate Education Presentation will take place from 5-7PM. The official welcome and keynote address will begin at 7PM. Check out the full agenda here!

4. How do I know if I’ve registered?
You should have gotten an email confirmation. If you haven’t gotten any email updates check with your school recruitment coordinator or email reagan@climateaction.net.

5. When and where should I send my payment?
If you have not yet paid for your registration, please do so by making checks payable to the SEN's fiscal sponsor the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy. Checks should be mailed ASAP to SEN c/o Southern Alliance for Clean Energy P.O. Box 1842 Knoxville TN 37901. Please write “SSREC” in the memo section of your check.
We understand that some groups are still trying to fundraise, so you can bring your payment in the form of cash or check to the registration desk the day you arrive at the conference. We do NOT take money orders.

If you haven't found a place to stay, you should do so as soon as possible. A lot of students have made reservations in Asheville by going to www.hotelplanner.com. Check out our housing resources here! If you are having major difficulties in finding housing please email ssrec@climateaction.net ASAP. We can not guarantee to find housing for any group, but will do our best to support your search.

7. Will meals be provided?
Food will not be provided for conference attendees. There are local restaurants nearby as well as on-campus dining options. We also recommend getting food donations from hometown businesses to help with snacks, drinks and meals while traveling.

8. Is there public transportation in Asheville?
Public transportation is very limited. Groups should plan to carpool from their housing to campus each day. We will have parking available in Lot 5 near Highsmith Student Union.

9. How are people getting to SSREC?
Most schools will let students borrow or rent a van to attend the conference. If you are looking to carpool or want more info on how to get there, contact the following people:

10. What is parking like?
We will have a designated parking area on campus, most likely Lot 5 (http://www.unca.edu/campusmap). There will be a signs directing you where to park when you enter campus.

11. I just saw a video of Midwest Power Shift having a dance party. Will I get to boogie at SSREC?

12. Will there be any free time? What kind of stuff is there to do in Asheville?
There is time Friday and Saturday nights. Asheville is beautiful and has a fun downtown! Just be sure to balance your fun with learning!
