Stop New Coal in Georgia!
Currently, there are two proposed Coal Plants in Georgia, that together would spew nearly 18 million tons of new Carbon Dioxide into the air, fueling Global Warming and continuing to decrease Georgia's already record low Air-Quality. These would be the first new Coal-Plants in Georgia in 25 years. It is speculated, that since our neighboring states (Florida and South Carolina) have either shut their doors to, or are actively organizing against Coal, that Georgia may become the Dumping grounds for new coal plants if either one of these plants is allowed to be built. WE MUST ACT NOW!

- Longleaf Energy Station, proposed by Dynegy/Ls Power, is a 1200 MW coal plant proposed for Hilton, Georgia in Early County (boarder of Georgia/Alabama)
- Currently, this plant has recieved all the necessary permits, and has been granted the "OK" by an Atlanta circuit court. Green Law, representing Sierra Club and Friends of the Chattahoochee are pursuing appeals in higher courts that should halt any construction, but more effort/education needs to happen outside the courtroom.
