South Carolina Campuses and Communities: a space to brag about your campaigns, actions, etc

Recent News: Saturday November 21st Columbia,SC – Students and community members gathered at the South Carolina State House to show their support for clean energy and strong climate legislation. Student and community members spoke on the imperative of a comprehensive climate bill being discussed in the US Senate and for President Obama to attend the climate negotiations at Cophenhagen.

Speakers included student organizers Lorena Hildebrant of Winthrop, Gabriel Fair of Clemson, Katherine Hilton and Lam Le` of Aiken, all of which who had worked earlier this year to halt the proposed Pee Dee coal plant in Florence County, Some of the speakers listed had also met with Senators and representatives in Washington D.C. on climate and energy issues earlier this year.

The event garnered more than 45 people from 6 campuses and generated a number of actions and messages to South Carolina Senators Graham & DeMint, as well as President Obama. Action included letters, petitions, and video messages calling for their leadership in passing bold climate legislation.
