Students from FAU, USF, UCF, UF and UM at the FLASSC Fall Summit doing some strategizing!
The Southen Energy Network has seen a lot of activity in Florida; there have been numerous state-based summits, growing community support, direct action initiatives, and state-wide campaigns. Florida Alumni and Students for Sustainable Campuses (FLASSC), a grassroots network of students, was founded at the 2nd Florida Student Sustainable Energy Summit in Nov 2006. The group hosts monthly conference calls focused the state Green Fee campaign, as well as the Florida Safe and Sustainable Energy Campaign. This campaign is actively opposing new nuclear power in Florida and, in addition to FLASSC, is comprised of many local and regional organizations. Link to more info coming soon!
