What's up with Florida?!

This is what's going on at Florida's Campuses and surrounding Communities. If you:

  • have some info on what's up with your campus;

New College of Florida

Climate Justice Squad The Climate Justice Squad (formally the New College Enviro Club) are working on numerous projects including a Green Fee Campign, on-site solar thermal on the new dorms, and getting the University President's Climate Commitment adopted by the administration. New College students have been successful in many campaigns most notably their on campus recycling program - one of the most comprehensive (and only completely student organized program) in the state university system! Univeristy of Central Florida

Eco-Advocates The Eco-Advocates of Central Florida are in the Process of running a Green Fee campaign on the UCF campus. Currently the campaign is in the petitioning phase to get on the Spring SGA ballot for student vote. For more info on the UCF Green Fee campaign, or to get involved with the Eco-Advocates, contact: eco.advocates[at]gmail.com Focus the Nation The Focus The Nation Group at UCF was one of the flagship schools for this campaign and continues to be active on campus: http://www.focusthenation.org/

University of Florida

Gators for Sustainable Campus The Gators are in the midst of a Green Fee Campaign and last semester ran a successful Green Fee student vote (78% approval!). They are also one of the only schools to pass the Fee through their Board of Trustees. www.sustainablegators.org/

Rollins

Rollins College students have been working on implementing Solar on campus - the panels are to go up within the next few weeks!

Florida State University

Noles for a Sustainable World The Noles began this year and are working on the Green Fee campaign, clean shuttle busses and a whole slew of on campus projects. For more info, contact: mandy[at]climateaction.net
